Wildlife around Howscales
Howscales is surrounded by open countryside, rivers and moorland making it a haven for bird watchers and wildlife lovers alike.
In the garden, feeders are placed to attract
the many species of birds that are in the locality. We are
very fortunate still to have Red squirrels in this area and
can be seen at all times of day coming to the feeders for
their favourite hazelnuts.
Not so popular in the garden are
the many rabbits and moles who cause havoc to the flower
and vegetable areas!
Early mornings deer can be seen nearby
and often a heron from the nearby Raven Beck will come and
check out the pond!
Swallows are a delight to watch when
they build their nests in the barn and many pheasants and
partridges visit the garden too.
